Social media refers to a computer-based technology that promotes the exchange of ideas, thoughts, and information via virtual networks and communities. Social media is internet-based and allows users to quickly exchange content such as personal information, documents, videos, and photos via electronic means. As of October 2021, Globally ,there are more than 4.5 billion people who use social media.[1]

Social media initiated as a way for friends and family to interact, but it was later adopted by businesses who wanted to take advantage to mass audience accessibility to sell or market their product easily. Furthermore, Social media is a constantly changing and evolving field, with new apps like TikTok and Snack video launching every year and competing with the ranks of established social networks like Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram.

According to the Pew Research Center, social media users are generally younger. Almost 90percent of the total of people aged 18 to 29 used at least one type of social media.[2] The below list shows users of social media with respect to their platforms.
