Elapidae, Squamata sınıfına bağlı zehirli bir yılan familyasıdır. Hint Okyanusu ve Pasifik de dahil olmak üzere dünyanın tropik ve tropik altı bölgelerinde bulunur.

Etimoloji

Elapid Eski Yunanca: ἔλλοψ: éllops ("deniz balığı") sözcüğünden türetilmiştir.
